Norton’s Door Operators Certified by GreenCircle to Reduce Energy Usage as Much as 100%

Norton Door Controls, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, today announced three of its power door operators have earned GreenCircle energy-savings certifications. The 6000 Series, 5800 Series ADAEZ® PRO, and 5800 Series ADAEZ® PRO PLUS power operators have been verified by GreenCircle to offer up to 24, 91 and 100 percent reduction in energy usage, as compared to similar door operators.

GreenCircle Certified, LLC, is an independent, third party certifier of sustainability claims in products and operations. Through a rigorous evaluation process, GreenCircle provides validation and transparency that a manufacturer’s product claims are authentic.

Virtually any building can benefit from the energy savings offered by the three Norton door operators, which cover the large majority of facilities’ moderate to high-traffic applications. The three operators can be operated manually, with all capable of activation through RF devices or wall switches, such as push buttons, to meet ADA requirements.

“Think of all the powered door operators throughout today’s commercial buildings. Changing to one of these GreenCircle certified operators is an easy task that can have a significant impact on a facility’s energy conservation,” said Fran Linsmeier, General Manager for Door Controls, ASSA ABLOY. “While always striving to make better products, we keep in-mind our customers’ needs for more sustainable, environmentally friendly solutions.”

As one of the only regenerative power door operators, Norton’s 5800 ADAEZ PRO can produce enough power to charge its on-board battery pack for up to 12 years. This door operator requires no wires, so installation is easy, and it is GreenCircle certified to provide as much as a 100 percent reduction in energy usage.

For applications requiring power close or an interface with electric locks, the 5800 ADAEZ PRO PLUS is certified to offer up to 91 percent energy savings. An enclosed transformer kit allows the unit to plug directly into an outlet for fast, straightforward installation.

The unique design of both 5800 ADAEZ operators enables each to fit within the tightest of spaces. Designed and tested for reliability, the ADAEZ Series ensures consistent door latching, while built to withstand high-wind and abusive environments.

Norton’s 6000 Series is a low energy operator that can integrate with access control systems, while supplying up to a 24 percent reduction in energy consumption, comparatively to similar products. For ease of installation, this operator mounts as two pieces with an LCD screen for accurate read-out of operating settings. In terms of performance, the unit delivers consistent opening and closing cycles with the added security of obstruction detection.

GreenCircle certifications are becoming increasingly desired by architects and facility managers alike, because they verify that the products contribute to facilities’ sustainability objectives and LEED certification. GreenCircle’s certifications join the Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), ISO Certifications and Declare Labels that provide valuable product transparency information for the large majority of Norton door closers and operators.
