ASSA ABLOY Door Controls Facility Certified by GreenCircle for Sustainable Manufacturing Practices

ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, today announced its Monroe, North Carolina, facility hasGreenCircle Certified icon earned GreenCircle Certified Environmental Facts certification, a “nutrition label” of sustainability for door closer products. Certification was based on an intense audit of specific product and manufacturing attributes, including carbon footprint, energy usage, waste diversion and recycled content. GreenCircle is a leading third party certifier of sustainability claims in products and operations.

The ASSA ABLOY facility was verified by GreenCircle Certified, LLC, to have achieved several improvements over a similar benchmark study performed in 2011:

  • 15 percent reduction in carbon footprint
  • 17 percent reduction in energy usage
  • 51 percent reduction in water usage
  • 22 percent reduction in waste to landfill
  • 83 percent waste diversion from landfill

The 129,000-square-foot facility employs approximately 200 people and is ISO 14001:2004 certified. It serves as the hub of ASSA ABLOY’s door controls manufacturing, engineering, marketing and technical support operations for the brands of Arrow, Norton, Rixson, Sargent and Yale.
